Morocco ranked most attractive destination for foreign investment
London, 03 Nov – (ANA) - Morocco has been ranked the most attractive destination for foreign direct investment (FDI) in Africa for the period 2011-2012, according to a review by fDi Intelligence, a specialised division of the London Financial Times newspaper.
South Africa, which held that position for 3 consecutive years, dropped into second place while Mauritius, Egypt, Ghana and the Seychelles came third, fourth, fifth and sixth respectively. Tunisia came seventh, while Namibia took the eighth position, Ethiopia came ninth followed by Kenya in the 10th position.
Some 59 African nations were reviewed, 13 of which provided detailed
information concerning their investment promotion strategies.
The collected data were gathered into 6 categories: economic potential,
human resources, profitability, quality of life, infrastructures and favorable
According to fDi Intelligence, Morocco is one of the region’s few countries
to have scored an increase in the number of foreign direct investment
projects in 2010, a fact that partly explains its advance in the 2011/12
general ranking. (ANA)
