Gabon faces diversification dilemma

Efforts by Gabon to diversify its economy, which is based largely on oil production, will not pay dividends in the short term and will leave the country vulnerable to decreasing global oil demand over the medium term, according to Business Monitor International.

In order to attract foreign investment in the country, corporate taxes are due to be reduced from current levels of around 35 per cent to around 25-30 per by 2011.
