Many African prisons below international standards



London, 28 May.- (ANA) - Prison conditions in many countries remained well below international standards, often linked to overcrowding, according to Amnesty International’s annual report 2009 published in London.

As ever, prisoners from poor families were worst affected as they often lacked the resources to ensure their basic needs while in detention. (ANA)
