Mawazine festival in Rabat 15-23 May

The 8th edition of Mawazine Festival, rhythms of the world, is taking place in Rabat, Morocco, from 15-23 May.

This year’s event will be truly international with stars like the queen of pop Kylie Minogue and Stevie Wonder topping the bill.

Diverse sounds and rhythms are the key word of this new edition of the festival winning acclaim over the years and back this year with quality music programmes that will captivate the audience in one of the greatest music celebrations in the world.

Latino sounds will delight the festival’s various venues. The two living legends of Brazilian music Sergio Mendes and Tania Maria will carry the audience away in fiery bossa-nova sounds. In this 8th edition, great soul singers will also be part of the event such as Alicia Keys, Solomon Burke and Neville Brothers. Great stars of Arabic songs will also take part. Street shows will be enlivened by two brass bands: Ciocarlia and Maharaja Brass Band that will go through the capital’s main boulevards. The organization of Mawazine Generation contest will reveal new talents from the young generation. Workshops will be organized in the Rabat Music School as well as an exhibition gathering contemporary artists of the Arab world.
