Nigerian gunmen release Israelihostage

Port Harcourt, Nigeria, 1 Sept-(ANA)- Gunmen in Nigeria have released an Israeliexpatriate nearly a week after he was kidnapped from his home in Nigeria's oilhub, police and security officials said.

Four gunmen abductedthe 60-year-old project manager, who works for Israeli construction firm GilmorEngineering Limited, in the southern city of Port Harcourt on Aug. 26.

"We can confirm.He has been released and he is looking healthy," said Lieutenant ColonelSagir Musa, spokesman for the military task force in Rivers state.

More than 200foreigners have been seized in the Niger Delta, the centre of the OPEC member'soil industry, since early 2006. Almost all have been released unharmed.

The gunmen demanded a million ransom on Friday for his release, but police denied any money beingpaid.(ANA)
