London, 27 Nov. -(ANA) - Egypt’s security forces have dispersed two protests by dozens of activists in Cairo today in a move to implement a controversial new law that places restrictions on demonstrations in Egypt. Leading human rights activists were among those arrested.
Amnesty International has warned that the legislation, signed into law on Sunday by Egypt’s President Adly Mansour, threatens freedom of assembly. The law grants security forces the power to use excessive force against demonstrators, including shooting at protesters who pose no threat to the lives and safety of others. (ANA)
